The placental membrane has epithelial-boosting properties, prolongs the life of stem cells, suppresses inflammation, and does not stimulate the immune system, making it the perfect tissue for transplant. The placental membrane is widely used in the treatment of various ophthalmic diseases and surgeries. It can also be used to cover burns in several areas other than the eyes.
Because of few units are ready to produce the placental membranes coupled with the difficulty in the transportation process which must be kept under constant cooling control, this results in frequent shortages of the placental membranes. Production in the southern region first started at the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkhla University and the second at Walailak University. This increase in the production of placental membranes will help alleviate the scarcity of the placental membranes and help to improve the standard of treatment for patients in Nakhon Si Thammarat and provinces in the upper southern region.
