From January 14–15, 2026, a delegation from Wailailak University Medical Center (WUMC), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pawrut Puangsri, Acting Director of Medical Affairs, attended the 3rd National Lifestyle Medicine Conference. The event, themed “Lifestyle Medicine and Coaching: Rhythms of Life for Quality Longevity,” was held at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, aiming to promote proactive health policies for citizens nationwide.
During the event, Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn stated that the Ministry of Public Health is currently shifting the healthcare paradigm from a focus on disease treatment to a concrete emphasis on health promotion. Addressing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) sustainably requires more than medication or medical technology; it necessitates personnel specialized in Lifestyle Medicine and Coaching. These professionals are essential in applying knowledge within communities and the healthcare system, aligning with the nation’s long-term health policy.
Furthermore, Dr. Pongpol Vorapani, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Health, added that Lifestyle Medicine is no longer just an alternative, but the “primary path” to achieving sustainable well-being and longevity for Thais of all ages.
This conference served as a vital platform for empowering networks and integrating knowledge regarding longevity with the development of innovative wellness services. Through academic exchanges, expert-led workshops, and keynote speeches from distinguished experts—along with the introduction of accredited facilities—medical personnel can now utilize these skills and innovations to enhance healthcare systems and effectively improve the quality of life for people in their respective areas.
