On July 17th–18th, 2025, the Division of Social Medicine at Walailak University Hospital organized a training program on “Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases and Health Hazards 2025” at Bhattharathammabhorn Conference Room, 9th Floor, Building C.
Dr. Kitti Rattanasombat, Acting Director of Walailak University Hospital, presided over the opening ceremony. The event was attended by healthcare professionals from various departments who came together to enhance their knowledge and readiness in managing communicable diseases and public health threats.
In recent years, the spread of communicable diseases has continued to rise—both from emerging and re-emerging infections—such as influenza, COVID-19, and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). These diseases not only impact individual health but also pose serious threats to society and the economy.
This training aimed to build the capacity of hospital staff in preventing and controlling communicable diseases within the healthcare setting. It also focused on improving the standards of disease surveillance and outbreak investigation.
Expert speakers from the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 11, Nakhon Si Thammarat, led by Ms. Kalita Wareewanit, Head of the Division of Epidemiology and Rapid Response, shared valuable insights through lectures and hands-on workshops. Participants had the opportunity to practice the full process of outbreak investigation through interactive sessions.
Walailak University Hospital recognizes the importance of continually developing the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals to ensure they are well-prepared to respond to current and future public health challenges.
