Walailak University Hospital recently hosted the “Thai Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine Regional Meeting 2025” in collaboration with the Thai Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (TOSSM) and the School of Nursing of Walailak University. The two-day conference, held on January 9-10, 2025, aimed to enhance knowledge and foster a strong network within the sports medicine community in the upper southern region of Thailand.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President of Walailak University, chaired the opening ceremony, which was attended by a diverse group, including Asst. Prof. Pavarud Puangsri, M.D., Acting Director of Walailak University Hospital, members of the executive committee, medical professionals from across Thailand, village health volunteers, health leaders, and numerous members of the general public. The conference took place at the “Hua Taphan Conference Room” on the 3rd floor and the “Chor Pradu Conference Room” on the 4th floor of the Chulabhornawetchawat building.
The conference focused on sharing crucial information about sports medicine, covering topics such as common sports injuries, injury prevention strategies, pre- and post-exercise care, and pre- and post-operative patient management. A key focus was to empower health leaders and the general public with practical knowledge for injury prevention in their daily lives and improve their overall health literacy. Furthermore, the event provided a valuable opportunity for medical professionals to collaborate, exchange knowledge and experiences, and enhance patient well-being by considering all aspects of their health.
The conference featured renowned speakers, including Asst. Prof. Ekavit Keyurapan, M.D., Director of TOSSM, and other leading specialists from across the country, who shared their expertise on various aspects of sports medicine.
This successful conference indicates a significant step towards strengthening sports medicine expertise and improving the quality of healthcare services in the upper southern region of Thailand.
